Weddings are awash with many traditions. There are numerous guidelines governing every element of the planning process. As expected, this extends to the wedding centerpiece; the gown. While some brides would rather play it safe there is the refreshing crop of brides that are enticed by anything out of the ordinary.
These are the brides that love to experiment and step out of the comfort standards set by society. As expected, there are a few eyebrows that will be raised but chances are, they are positive reactions. After all, the greater the risk, the greater the return.
A couple of ways to go non-tradition:
White may be the go-to color for wedding gowns, but it does get boring. Thankfully, the trend is slowly shifting in favor of other shades. There cannot be a better way to wow the crowd. A little too scared to bring out the reds, yellows and greens? No problem. Try the champagnes and ivories and off-whites instead. May be a little on the safe side but it’s still guaranteed to grab attention.
A gown doesn’t have to sweep the floor. It’s totally okay to rock a hem that sits anywhere along the legs. Feel like you can pull off a mini dress? Go for it. Want to push the envelope even more? How about a plunging neckline? Or a thigh high slit? Or a mid-riff dress? That’s something you don’t see every day.
Prints and Tattoos
Away with mediocrity, in with creativity. There is no rule prohibiting a bride from having fun with her gown. She has free reins to showcase herself in any work of art. Whether it’s graffiti or flowers, this is the best time and forum to express yourself, when all eyes are on you.
